東南アジア水環境制御研究センターについて
SACWETはAITと共同で運営され、その事務局をAIT内におく。SACWETは東南アジア地域の共同研究を自ら行うのみならず、東京大学が東南アジア地域で行う水環境に関する各種調査研究を支援する機能も持つ。具体的には、AITが既に有するさまざまな研究施設や人的、組織的なネットワークを活用することによって東南アジア地域の水環境の研究を進める。また、東大と東南アジア諸国の研究機関との人的交流の拠点としても機能する。SACWETは水環境工学研究センター（旧 水環境制御研究センター）のいわば海外サテライトセンターとも言えるものであり、同センターのこの地域での研究活動を発展させるとともに、国際ネットワーク機能を充実させるというセンターの計画に沿うものである。
SACWET is managed in collaboration with AIT and locates the secretariat in AIT. SACWET not only conducts research on the Southeast Asia by itself, but has a function to support research surveys by University of Tokyo on the water environment in Southeast Asia. This can be facilitated by using various research facilities and human and organization network of AIT. Moreover, it works as a base of the human exchange with the University of Tokyo and research institutes in Southeast Asia. SACWET is an overseas satellite center of RECWET, so to speak. The establishment meets the plan of RECWET to develop research activities in the area and to enhance its function of international network.
